[ welp. someone doesn't want to be anywhere near his room for the moment, so ash is heading down to the gardens for some fresh air. his hands are in his pockets, and seem to be plucking at whatever he has in them.
to the duck pond it is. ducks are distracting, right? ]
[Ducks ARE distracting, which is exactly why Nic is there. He's just sat on a bench, watching the ducks swim around. He seems faintly in a daze, mostly because he hasn't slept.
But hey, maybe a conversation with a weird goblin of a man is a good distraction too?]
Ash just kind of... gives him a passing glance, before digging whatever is in his pockets out. It's ... a bag! Like a paper one. He holds it in one hand and digs inside it with the other, and then...
throws what looks like some kind of breaded food to the duckies! Feast, ducks. ]
[The ducks absolutely flip out!!! Food!!! They crave that food!!! The ducks are now gathering around where the food Ash threw fell in the water, quacking. It's a nice sound!
Not that Nic can hear it but it's fine. He remains where he is for a moment, stubborn, but then finally figures he may as well get up and witness the duck feast from closer up, as he joins Ash on the bank.]
Ash glances over again, before just silently holding out the bag of food to Nic. You wanna feed the ducks, man? This is soothing and relaxing and definitely a step up from voting an innocent if obnoxious man to death. ]
[Bold of you to assume ducks take orders from anyone besides their dark pond god???
But yes Nic will accept the offer, reaching into the bag of food. He takes a bite out of the mystery food first, because he's a goblin, but then does break off a piece to throw to the ducks.]
Well. Enjoy your kinda cold, going a bit stale croquette, Nic. The ducks sure are, so maybe it tastes good anyway. Or maybe the ducks are just hungry as all heck. ]
[Nic just finally properly turns to Ash then, to raise a skeptical eyebrow at.
He doesn't say anything. Just gives him a Look that says "really? you think ducks have concerns? You're a fool, Ash Carbide." Or something like that, anyway.]

[ he shrugs, and throws a bit of food at the fluffy duckies again. they scrabble around it, little feathers fluffing and beaks snapping. ]
