[ just simple and blunt. ] If he was that willing to volunteer himself after escaping last week, he can put himself up to die this week instead.
Alright. Survive tomorrow and I’ll fight you on Monday. Properly, no injuries in the way.
[ hm... so that’s the body and Kara’s the ... soul? Projection? ] You’d said you were going to keep her to yourself. Seems fair she should do the same as well.
I know. [ he doesn’t look happy about it ] I can hope.
[ he taps a knuckle against the metal bar and nods. ] Less if, more do.
[ and then he properly sits himself down because, well. Even if it’s quiet he’s staying here a little longer. Sorry ‘bout that, Kawa. ]
Good. But after these past two weekends, that’s not the permanent solution. [ there’s a pause though, before he tilts his head slightly in acknowledgement: they don’t know what’ll happen tomorrow. And while he’s mostly pinning his bets on Kara walking out alive, the alternative, well — ] Can’t be much longer though. So we’ll fix it from both sides if something goes ... [ well ] wrong.
They voted for me instead because I told Taako to lay off of Lili, and they got angry at me for it. Because, apparently, caring about anyone else only matters if it's who they want us to care about.
I don't know him well enough to say anything about him. Other than I don't trust the shit he spouted last week. [ but he doesn't have physical proof or any reason other than one post-trial discussion that solidified his unease with the trial last week, so... what can he do about it? ]
But he has friends here. From wherever he was before. [ the people from the ship -- there's still quite a few of them, whereas for kara and lili... well... ] Sounds like that us versus them mentality I was kinda hoping we'd avoid.
I don't think there was ever a chance of that. They can say "no revenge kills" all they like, but they still care about their own above all else. It's not that surprising, really.
And I have my biases too, but I won't send someone to their death without reason. They've made it clear that they don't care. This isn't the first time they've voted for someone innocent to die.
We've been pretty shit across the board at pinning down criminals though. But I didn't think we'd stoop to "yelling at someone" as indication to toss in a vote.
There's gonna be more than one spite vote in there. Or people trying not to vote for people they like and throwing out a vote, thinking no one else will have picked the same person.
That's how at least one of them went, yeah. The others - I'd be surprised if they cared. I have an idea of who the others could have been, and they have no love for me.

[ he's. genuinely curious. who is ash angry at, exactly? ]
...No. I'm injured enough as it is. I'll save it for tomorrow.
[ after a moment, though, kara nods. ]
The sword is my original form. It's what I am really am - so even if I don't leave that ring alive tomorrow, she'll still have me with her.

You know none of us get to choose the executioner.
...But if I leave that ring, and survive whoever comes at me after? Yeah, I'll take you up on that.
[ to that, though, he nods. ] I wouldn't trust anyone else with me.

Yeah, I figured.
You can get mad about it, y’know. I imagine tearing this place down from the inside out would be fair play after everything it’s pulled.

[ ... ] Not volunteering yourself isn't an indicator that someone's guilty. All we did for twenty damn minutes was volunteer and get shot down.

Can't pretend there aren't people I'd choose over others, but still. You'd think after going through this twice we'd have a bit more sense.
[ ... ] Big ask, I know.
