They voted for me instead because I told Taako to lay off of Lili, and they got angry at me for it. Because, apparently, caring about anyone else only matters if it's who they want us to care about.
I don't know him well enough to say anything about him. Other than I don't trust the shit he spouted last week. [ but he doesn't have physical proof or any reason other than one post-trial discussion that solidified his unease with the trial last week, so... what can he do about it? ]
But he has friends here. From wherever he was before. [ the people from the ship -- there's still quite a few of them, whereas for kara and lili... well... ] Sounds like that us versus them mentality I was kinda hoping we'd avoid.
I don't think there was ever a chance of that. They can say "no revenge kills" all they like, but they still care about their own above all else. It's not that surprising, really.
And I have my biases too, but I won't send someone to their death without reason. They've made it clear that they don't care. This isn't the first time they've voted for someone innocent to die.
We've been pretty shit across the board at pinning down criminals though. But I didn't think we'd stoop to "yelling at someone" as indication to toss in a vote.
There's gonna be more than one spite vote in there. Or people trying not to vote for people they like and throwing out a vote, thinking no one else will have picked the same person.
That's how at least one of them went, yeah. The others - I'd be surprised if they cared. I have an idea of who the others could have been, and they have no love for me.
[ ookurikara nods. that's good. as much as beau dislikes him, he'd rather not condemn someone without knowing.
that said. ]
As long as it isn't Lili tomorrow, I will fight to live. I won't give in until one of us breaks.
[ still, he hesitates. ]
...I would have asked Dimitri.
[ except that he is, you know, dead. the one ookurikara is being sent to death for, as if he'd ever raise his blade against him. it would be funny, if it weren't quite so awful. ]
If I break tomorrow... Take care of Lili. Make sure she gets through this.
... It'd be this place's sense of humour to do that. But... I'll hope it isn't. [ anyone else and he'd say she'd have a fighting chance, right down to the wire. but not facing off against kara. ]
...
She's stronger than this. You're allowed to trip and fall whenever, the big thing is whether you get back up and keep going again afterward.
She will.
[ ... ]
But I'll give her a push to get her started, if she needs it.
[ he nods. that sounds right. lili would never give up completely, but after all she's lost, and all that she still stands to lose, ookurikara expects that it will be harder this time than it's ever been. ]

Yeah, I figured.
You can get mad about it, y’know. I imagine tearing this place down from the inside out would be fair play after everything it’s pulled.

[ ... ] Not volunteering yourself isn't an indicator that someone's guilty. All we did for twenty damn minutes was volunteer and get shot down.

Can't pretend there aren't people I'd choose over others, but still. You'd think after going through this twice we'd have a bit more sense.
[ ... ] Big ask, I know.

But you didn't have to ask in the first place. I'm not enough of a jerk to leave her alone if she really does have to go through losing you as well.
