[ he lifts the axe up and makes a sharp jab forwards -- for all the casualness of the whole conversation, he's clearly pulling the strike enough he won't break anything vital, but has enough respect to not pull it completely. ]
[that's exactly how Akira wants it, so kudos to Ash! on instinct, he throws himself to the side-- the side with his good leg-- in a graceful dodge!!]
[or. it would be graceful if he didn't trip over his prosthetic in the process. SO HE AVOIDS THE AXE, BUT. . . he nearly falls on his face in the process, only catching himself at the last minute with his crutch]
[he does have it under control, even if it takes him a few seconds to get there!! he stands, letting out a puff of breath as he does, slightly annoyed]
Yeah, you could. You didn’t fall though, so not a bad start.
[ but alright — he makes the same motion. Same angle, same force because he’s still bot trying to break something. But he goes just a little faster with the strike this time. ]
[and Akira throws himself in the same direction!! this time he catches himself a little better so there's no stumble at end, but admittedly it's still not the most graceful of actions. probably because he isn't quite sure how much weight to distribute to the prosthetic]
[ still impressive, given he's straight up working with a new leg entirely. ]
Better.
... Is it the weight that keeps throwing you off? [ He aims another, steady but paced jab at Akira's leg to see if he can get out of the way in time -- at least it's not gonna bruise if he nicks him. ]
[straightens himself, leaning his weight against his crutch, and making a face at that question]
Yeah, it i-- hey!
[that jab takes him by surprise, and. . . he doesn't quite move away in time. the axe glances off of the prosthetic, and the impact sends Akira sprawling]
[well, if Akira looks put out, it's not because of Ash. he grasps onto the other boy's arm tightly, grumbling as he pulls himself back onto his feet]
Yeah. . . I think you're right.
I've been practicing weight distribution by using my crutch as a stabilizing force if I happen to trip, but maybe I need to take off the training wheels. So to speak.

[ he stands up and rests the end of the axe on the ground, like a walking stick. ]
You've just been walking up and down on it so far? Nothing else?
no subject
Yeah; so far. I still need some kind of support to walk on it, too.
[ERGO: the crutch]
no subject
Extra weapon, nice.
Alright, I'm gonna try and jab you now. Try not to get hit.
no subject
[laughs, and then attempts to take a defensive stance, although it's a bit awkward with the prosthetic and the crutch]
Okay. Hit me with your best shot.

...!
[ ash pulls the strike, just in case he needs to play second crutch for a moment, but it looks like akira's got it under control. ]
Not bad.
no subject
I could do better.
[he re-assumes the defensive stance]
Again.
no subject

[onto his butt]
no subject
Timber.
[ hold up, he's coming to offer him an arm up. ]
Point made with that pratfall. We should probably work on that part first -- get used to the weight, and the moving around won't feel so weird.
no subject
Yeah. . . I think you're right.
I've been practicing weight distribution by using my crutch as a stabilizing force if I happen to trip, but maybe I need to take off the training wheels. So to speak.

[ he shifts to take it away? if akira'll let him. ] If you feel like you're gonna fall, just grab me. But try and keep walking.
no subject
I'm not responsible for any bruises that may or may not happen if I trip into your face.
[but okay. it's okay, Akira. you can do this. tentatively, he takes another step forward]
no subject
...
You'd have to grow like -- a solid inch? If you were gonna trip into my face. [ he sounds distinctly Un Stressed. ]
no subject
Shut up.
[and another step! equally as wobbly as the first, but he's somehow managing to keep his balance]
no subject
[ keep on keeping on akira. ]
no subject
[. . .]
[and another. . .]
[. . . . . . . . ]
[and then stumbles forward in an attempt to SHOVE HIS HANDS INTO ASH'S FACE]
no subject
Guess who has two legs and both of them are still his own.
Yeah it's the guy who's step-leaning back to avoid a petty hand in his face. ]
no subject
[AND FALLING FACE FIRST ONTO THE GROUND UNLESS HE IS CAUGHT]
no subject
ash reaches forwards and snags akira by the collar. do not attack the helper 😔 ]
