[ he'll only wait long enough for ash to get a good grip on the axe before dashing in to start them off with a wide swing of his sword at ash's non-dominant arm. ]
the point of this is to get injured, at some point, but... can't have a good fight if you let yourself get hurt right out the gate. so ash uses his grip on the axe to swing it up, in an arc, and catch the blade of kara's sword with the long handle.
hopefully he'll deflect it, but if not, he'll move in to swing the axe down away from the blade and jab the dull, pommel like end of the handle directly at kara's stomach. ]
[ the blow is deflected, and kara twists away from the axe to avoid the handle. but he comes right back in, low this time, to jab up from under the pole. ]
[ ash has to lean, and almost throw himself backwards to avoid the jab. and honestly, he acts on reflex, kicking out his foot in retaliation for the attack. ]
[ the kick hits his arm, loosening that hand's grip on the hilt of kara's sword. he shakes it out and keeps coming, ignoring the urge to grab his sheath to tighten his defense. it would be counterproductive, in a fight meant to leave injuries. he stays low for now, this time with a sweeping cut at ash's legs. ]
[ ash takes a couple of steps back, just getting out of reach of the slash of kara's blade, before side stepping around him. a jab with the blunt end of the axe again, and then he swings the blade down towards kara's back. ]
