I'm not sure where you are, I hope you're getting settled in okay. That invitation to the house is still open, remember that.
There's something I need to talk to you about. [...] About what happened the day after we were at Valflame Palace. I know you're from that time and...well, as a member of Class VII, you have as much right to know what happened as the rest of us.
I'll leave it up to you if you want to hear about this over the communicator or in person...and when you want to hear it. I'll be honest: none of it is good news. So I won't blame you if you need time.
[ That part isn't missed - the part about Calvard. He doesn't know everything that happened after... well. Everything that happened with the Emperor. But the timing-- ]
Rewind a second. The world's going to end? Kinda makes going to war seem kinda pointless in comparison. [ Once again, Erebonia's priorities are fucked. What a surprise. ]
Normally I'd agree, but the war is how the world's going to end.
The curse you had...it wasn't limited to just you. Apparently anyone who gets it can be driven to commit atrocities sooner or later. And most of the curse had been contained by, well, something. [Now's not the time to get into the nitty gritty of divine beasts ok and septerrion ok] But Osborne and his allies did a ritual to release it and spread it across Erebonia.
And now they're planning to use the war to spread it across the world.
To pay for it maybe? I don't know. I can't understand a viewpoint like Chancellor Osborne's at all.
[Maybe he could if he thought about it long enough, but he really didn't want to]
I wouldn't be surprised if he does at this point, but I don't care to find out what his hidden plans are. [This isn't the first time he privately wishes Crow had actually killed the man back then, but he doesn't vocalize it]
Anyway, we tried to stop the ritual. Everyone put their all in and we came close but... it wasn't enough.
Millium, Prince Olivert, Viscount Arseid, and Toval didn't make it through. Angelica too ... the reason no one could find her is because she had been killed.
[You and I both know he spent the time listening to calming music as he tried to calm his nerves. He does wait though. Sure, he's taken apart and reassembled a couple instruments as he waits out of nervousness, but he waits. ]
I wish I was.
[He wasn't the type to make jokes like this, but boy, did he wish he was and this was all fake. Wouldn't that be nice? Nope, reality sucks]
George shot Angelica when she went to investigate Crow's grave. Turns out he was with the Black Workshop all along.
The Viscount, Toval and Prince Olivert were on the Courageous and coming to help. It was blown up.
Millium- [He pauses here] They wanted to sacrifice Altina for the ritual. Millium jumped in to protect her, but her barrier broke, and she got killed instead.
[ Just let all that on him real gentle like, ta Elliot. ]
...
[ Enjoy another longass silence Elliot. ]
That's why the grave was disturbed then. She'd already been there and what-- got intercepted? [ He'll pick apart the other things bit by bit. Like how the Royal Family's stolen-but-not-really-stolen-if-it-was-taken-from-one-of-the-Royal-Family-in-the-first-place airship exploded and what this ritual thing entailed and when they needed the Little Bunny for any of it. ]
And if it was her "friend" that found her, that'd be why she didn't fight back.
Second -- who the hell managed to blow up the Courageous, isn't Arseid's dad supposed to be a top tier pilot? And it's the royal family's ship, it ain't like security's gonna be lax.
Yeah. And Angelica's always been the type to try to handle personal matters herself, which is why she didn't tell anyone where she was going.
[Maybe if she had, the pieces would've fallen into place sooner, but...]
He wasn't the one to push the detonator...but if I had to guess, it was George again. [That guy sure is batting a thousand!] Explosives were planted on the ship somehow. George served on the Courageous with us during the war as a mechanic. He could've known spots to put explosives that'd get overlooked.
With Crow, when I look back...I can see warning signs I missed. Hints to what he was doing.
But when I think of George...I can't think of much like that at all. Then again, I spent more time with Crow than George...so there's always a chance I missed something.
[ 💧 Boy he feels bad for the nun who handled his sunday school]
Alright. Well to be brief, Sept Terrions were gifts from Aidios before the Great Collapse that would grant humanity's wishes. The Holy Beasts were powerful creatures who'd protected the Sept Terrion. During the Great Collapse the Sept Terrion disappeared, but the Holy Beast stayed.
Anyway, at some point the Holy Beast of Earth got corrupted when it took most of the Curse into its body. After that, it sealed itself away to keep everyone safe. So to unleash the curse, the Holy Beast would be to be killed ... which was only possible by making a special sword created from sacrificing someone who was both human and weapon.
[...]
That's why Millium and Altina were created. To be that sacrifice.
[IT IS COMPARED TO THE HOUR LONG CUTSCENES. Consider yourself lucky Ash]
So it seems, it's pretty crazy.
They took Altina with the intent to be the sacrifice, and we went after to get her back and stop the ritual. Most of us got held up fighting their allies, but Rean and your class were able to get through.
But...then they woke up the corrupted holy beast, and even Valimar and the Soldats weren't a match for it. Altina tried to protect them with her barrier, but Millium jumped in to protect her instead.
It cut right through her barrier, Lammy ... and her. It was quick, that's all you can say about it.
Why though? What's the flippin' point of creating two fully formed humans just to try and off one of them --- and holy beasts, what the hell is even going on in Erebonia?
I know we've got a bunch of messed up, self serving assholes sitting pretty up top but you're telling me they're all primed to go right off the handle as well?
Yeah. I don't know if that was planned or part of the Black Record prophecy or they just took advantage of the situation ... but it worked to their advantage.
Unfortunately, I'm talking about a real prophecy. There's these books called the Black Records. They talk about parts of history that didn't really make the typical history books, as well as prophecies for the future.
Rean's been collecting and sending them to the Church to translate on the side apparently. And the Church considers them legitimate enough to send people to investigate, so I'd say there's something to them.

[ ... ]
Not sure how much more complicated things can get, but if anyone can manage it, it's probably Class VII.
[ Lay it on him. ]
no subject
[He got by on his tours sleeping on church pews, so he's not exactly about to harp on it too much.
But ugh. while that belief in Class VII would normally be heartwarming, it just hurts right now]
That's...the problem. We failed.
Erebonia's going to war with Calvard and there's a very real chance the world's going to end.

It's never simple with us, huh.

What was the point of all that damn expansion and annexing if all they're gonna do is wreck the whole world at the end of it??
[ The curse on himself as an individual was hard enough to wrap his head around, but the idea of it being let loose?
...
And what did it say that the curse could usually be controlled but had taken hold of him anyway? ]
That guy has like seven moves going on the chess board at once, there's no way he hasn't got some sort of bullshit plan going on in the background.

You're joking, right?
[ Like. He'd definitely passed out after... well. All that. But how had everything gone that badly to shit afterwards? ]
How the hell did they all die? None of them were damn pushovers, 'specially not the Principal's teacher.

Nope. Nada.
Pretend I said holy beast - TOO MANY TERMS

I don't know. I've met parents who'll use their kids for their own goals, but to create them to sacrifice? - that goes way beyond that.
Yeah. And they passed a National Mobilization Act, so anyone can be conscripted into their war.
no subject
[ In theory they'd put a stop to that, but... ]
What excuse did they use to kick that into gear? [ He can take a wild guess. ]
no subject
Unfortunately, you. They claimed you were an agent from Calvard.

... Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. Kinda convenient there was a Calvard gun just lying around the place.
