[ "lucky," when three people are dead. true, one was a monster, and the other was a self-defense kill, but the last... and hunter...
and she's still bitter about nhs. perhaps that comes through, in her voice. ]
It was close. If... [ not just nhs, she reminds herself, but both of them. ] If they had spoken up sooner, we would have had more time to figure it out for certain. It was foolish.
[ There's a pause, as he listens to what she has to say. ]
Nah. We figured out Swirly -- or, Akira did. S'fair to let us get the information and then break it up so we know what's relevant and what isn't. I'm more ticked at Fan Guy for keeping his trap shut for as long as he did. We made it damn clear we didn't plan on voting for Swirly, but he was happy to stay quiet and hope we voted for someone else.
[ ...well. so much for calm. there's a lot of anger swirling inside of her already, from the trial and from all her links, and hearing ash say that just brings it all bubbling right back up. her expression twists into a grimace. ]
That man is a coward.
[ there's an undercurrent of barely restrained fury in her words that doesn't quite show on her face, but her knuckles are turning white. the only reason she'd let it slide is because babo kim asked her to drop it. if it weren't for that... ]
[ Ash isn't swirling with personal anger or anything, but there's something dark and old in his eyes. ]
Looking out for number one. Doesn't matter what gets trampled, and hang the consequences until they actually has an effect on them they can't run away from.
People like that... They'll let anyone else suffer, as long as they're safe.
[ it reminds her of the temple magicians, debating who to send to investigate the red sky incidents and refusing to include themselves in that number. what happened to the courage she'd seen when they'd saved her life? where did it go?
...Jin Ling is afraid to lose him, I think. They're from the same world. Losing someone familiar in a place like this... it scares me, too, so I'll grant him that.
But Nie HuaiSang shouldn't be excused on fear alone - not when it could have meant allowing someone else to die instead. But I don't know what else we could do to change his mind about speaking up, if something happens again in the future.
I'd be more sympathetic if he wasn't a brat about it and literally everything all the damn time. [ ... maybe. Still, is it better to have someone here and risk losing them, or not have anyone here at all and know they're probably already lost in the likely event you don't make it home?
Ash doesn't know. But it's an old wound, an old feeling, and he doesn't let it rear up to smother him for more than a moment. ]
Dunno. Can we really guarantee safety if someone kills in self-defence? If we're down to the wire, are people gonna vote for a random person who might have done nothing, or someone who killed even if it was to defend themselves?
Unless we figure out a failsafe, I'm not sure how we work that out. We might not always have something to help them with.
...It's probably better to vote for someone who killed, even in self-defense, than to choose someone innocent, if we have no other choice.
[ brilith hates that they're in the position to have to make that choice. but if it can't be helped... ]
Babo Kim would have taken the fall, if it came to it. I... [ would have been heartbroken, would have cried, would have held an even bigger grudge against nhs-- ] I would have supported him, if that's what he wanted. But we should always prioritize finding the monsters, and knowing who else killed that wasn't one of them is paramount to that task.
If we miss the monster, they get to kill again next week. Which makes it harder to try and stop it, and prevent a murder.
[ ... ]
That sounds like a load of bullshit. No one would be happy about that happening -- it's a waste of a vote and a life, in the grand scheme of all this shit. It'd be easier if we had something that let us pinpoint the monsters in play before it got to the whole killing and trials part.
What would you propose we do, if we can't find the monster in or out of the trials? The girls said there was no way to find them before they transform, didn't they? Assuming they aren't lying, of course. And even if we speak with Master Blue, there's no guarantee we'll get anything different out of him.
We'd have to figure that out, if the time came. Dunno, maybe we're figuring some things out this week that we wouldn't have before. Maybe I'm feeling cautiousy optimistic.
[ Hm. ]
I wonder when we'll he'll deign to grace us with his presence.

That kind of cowardice... It's unforgivable.

People do that shit because there's no one who can touch them if they do.

It sounds as if he isn't planning to at all. But he did give us the option to ask for him ourselves.
